In the case of an emergency, this new E911 / EMA Facility is a fully hardened structure able to withstand substantial damage while remaining fully functional with the use of redundant back-up power and mechanical systems. The south and west exterior walls (walls facing the prevailing wind or typical direction of storms) have landscaped berms forming a bunker-like structure.  

The Dispatch was designed to accommodate present user needs with future growth also in mind. The facility consolidates multiple agencies, including: the 911 Call Center, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department, City of Tuscaloosa Police Department, City of Northport Police Department, University of Alabama Police Department, and Northstar Ambulance. The facility also houses the Emergency Management Operations Center during emergency events.
